The iRobot Roomba i3+ is a great robot vacuum with a number smart features to make it easier to maintain. The automatic bin emptying feature is among the best features we've ever encountered in a robotic vacuum. It is a great choice for both carpets and hard floors. It's also easy to set up and use with the app that guides you step-by-step through the process. robotvacuummops to resumptuate where it left off in our tests is a great feature. It did this for 77 minutes in one cleaning, and then the battery was exhausted.
The i3+ EVO, unlike some of the other robot vacuums we tested comes with a self-emptying bin that automatically disposes of debris into an external dirt container on its charging base once it is full. The i3+ EVO can be prevented from overfilling with a self-emptying bin. However it still needs to be manually emptied at the end of each cleaning session. The i3+ EVO's built-in dust bin holds 2.4L of trash that is enough to last five or four cleaning sessions before needing to replace it.
Like the i7, utilizes state-of-the-art floor-tracking sensors to produce maps. It also lets you navigate in neat rows. The i3+ EVO can only store one map, whereas the i7 can store multiple. The i7's map can be used to create virtual barriers and no-go zones, but not for the i3+ EVO.
The i3+ EVO is more effective of picking up surface debris in comparison to other robovacs we've reviewed, but it is not the best in cleaning edges and corners. It is also less gentle on furniture, despite being remarkably silent. It pushed chairs away from walls and made some collisions with the sides of our bed, and became stuck on cords and toys during testing.
2. Black & Decker Pro Q5
If you're looking to expand your robot vacuum collection or just beginning your journey with the Q5 Pro is a great option. It packs a lot of power, smart navigation and a user-friendly automation into a sleek design at an affordable price. It's the most efficient pound-for pound model on sale right now and is even better than some of Roborock's more expensive models in many ways.
This robot is excellent in cleaning floors that are not clean and its avoidance technology assists it in staying clear of furniture legs or other obstacles. It also excels on carpets and scores a high score for our tests of navigation. The only drawback is that it's noisier than other models and doesn't do better in our user-satisfaction and predicted reliability tests.
The Q5 Pro comes with a large dust container of 770ml. This means you won't have to empty it as often as other 2-in-1 robots. Its 240-minute runtime is very generous compared to others we've tested. When the battery is running low, it will automatically return to its dock where it recharges and then resumes cleaning where it began. You can control the Q5 Pro via the app and also use voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.
This is among the first robots we've seen incorporate 3D mapping. This, in conjunction with other advancements, allows it to perform exceptionally well during our mopping and vacuuming tests. You can schedule cleanings and set up no-go zones. You can also view the battery's status. The app is simple to use, but it doesn't support Apple HomeKit which is expected to be available by 2025. Apple updated its footnote on its website in early November to reflect that the feature was delayed until 2025. Some other robots won't work with HomeKit However, many of them work with Siri Shortcuts.
